Standard usage of the Facebook Connect utility:
The Website will leverage the power of Facebook Connect to gain access to a limited amount of a user’s personal information as well as collect and store certain information about your Internet connection and your use of this Website so that you can share your Social Strand with others. When choosing to connect with Facebook, you authorize us to access information you have posted on your Facebook page so that we may use this data to create your Social Strand.
We will access the following information from your Facebook account to enhance your experience on this Website and permit My Social Strand to function properly: your Facebook ID, your name, location, age, gender, education, comments, likes, posts, photos, friends’ lists, friends’ education, friends’ names, friends’ comments, photos friends tagged you in and friends’ likes.
In order for you to have a unique Social Strand and be able to share it to all your friends we will have to save the following data: your Facebook ID, name, gender, age, school, major, city, state, total friends, most supportive friend, friend with most mutual friends, friend with most friends, most talkative friend, number of 'close' friends, your average number of posts, the total number of photos you were tagged in, your device, your chosen phone case, your selection between two hash tags, your other selection between two other hash tags. This information is a result of processing your data- all the stuff that makes you, you! Other than what is listed above, we will not save any other information from your Facebook account.
In order to log the user into the site, three things need to happen:
• Facebook needs to authenticate the user. This ensures that the user is who they say they are.
• Facebook needs to authenticate our website. This ensures that the user is giving their information to our site and not someone else.
• The user must explicitly authorize our website to access their information. This ensures that the user knows exactly what data they are disclosing to our site.
This authentication process has become a very common user experience and no information is accessed without the user’s explicit permission.
Facebook provides access after user authorization to the user’s name, picture, photo albums and other data they have shared on their profile on Facebook.
After the Website presents the final result to the user, all personally identifiable information will be purged from the server databases.
Only generic and aggregated information is stored, such as the total number of users, gender ratio across all users, etc.
USE OF YOUR PROVIDED INFORMATION. By submitting your information and authorizing the application through Facebook, as outlined above in the introduction, you hereby irrevocably grant to the NMDP the right to utilize said information for the purposes of providing a graphic representation, specific to you, of materials and information defined in your online social profile, submitted specifically to the Website and collected via various other public sources. Personally identifying information will be purged from the NMDP’s system after being displayed to the user.
